Author Description
"DasWriter" is the pen name for Douglas A. Schmitt, a southern fictional writer that believes "Art should reflect Life." A writer that speaks to the ordinary reader living in an extraordinary world.
Douglas grew up in the small town of Bay St. Louis, located in south Mississippi. He was raised as the forth of six children. He attended Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, then moved to Biloxi, MS where he attended Jefferson Davis College before transferring to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.
Growing up, Douglas had a strong interest in two areas... one was law and the other was writing. After attending USM and majoring in Political Science, Douglas knew he wanted to attend law school. But after attending USM, Douglas decided to become a professional writer instead.
Coming from a large family, originally from New Orleans, LA... Douglas grew up heavily inspired by the emotional drive of jazz music and southern literature. His two favorite southern authors being William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams and favorite jazz musician being Louis Armstrong. Douglas has also been heavily inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, Bobby Darin and The Doors.
Douglas has written over six novels, with "Adaptation of the Chameleon" being the first to be published. He enjoys fictional tales of real world stories.
The term "Literary Architect," describes Douglas' passion and respect towards writers. He believes that anyone that designs and builds wonderful art from a piece of paper, pen and an idea deserves to be considered an architect of literature.
